Marine Environmental Awards Luncheon

Tuesday, October 20, 2026 (11:30 AM - 1:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

The Dauphin Island Sea Lab Foundation is hosting the 14th annual Marine Environmental

Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, October 20 at the Battle House Hotel. This year, we are proud

to present the Sessions Brown Award to Dr. Chris Anderson, Auburn University College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment. The Sessions Brown award recognizes outstanding statewide leadership in conservation efforts.

Awards will also be presented to an individual and an organization that have made significant

contributions to marine environmental sustainability in the Alabama Gulf Coast Region. The

winners of this year’s awards are Colonel Scott Bannon for his work protecting and conserving Alabama’s marine resources for current and future generations of Alabamians and to Mobile Jaycees for their leadership of the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo.  The Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo continues to be conservation minded in all its efforts regarding the state of fisheries throughout the Gulf of Mexico by seeking input from Dr. Sean Powers and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab.

The keynote speaker at the luncheon will be Mr. Ben Raines, a former recipient of the Marine Environmental Award. Mr. Raines is an environmental journalist and filmmaker. Mr. Raines has won more than two dozen awards for his coverage of environmental issues and natural wonders in Alabama and on the Gulf Coast.

As a prominent member of the Mobile Business community, The DISL Foundation is

asking you to consider sponsoring this celebratory event. A portion of the

proceeds raised will be used to fund student scholarships and other projects at

the Sea Lab.
