Mission Contribution:

To ensure the efficient and cost effective operation of our organization, to maximize profitability and increase employment and/or training opportunities.

 

Function:

This position is responsible for identifying areas of improvement in the organization to reduce costs and waste using continuous improvement tools. Additionally, this position will educate and train employees on improvement initiatives while building and supporting a continuous improvement culture.


Essential Duties:

Lead continuous improvement transformation efforts and support process improvement projects.

Analyze company processes and procedures to identify areas of improvement and return on investments for improvement projects.

Develop and implement best practices and standard operating procedures to optimize efficiency

Develop and train employees on improvement initiatives, tools and methods.

Insure alignment in the areas of planning, systems, conventions, benefit calculations, reporting, documentation, training, tools and performance based on continuous improvement frameworks.

Conduct audits to sustain implemented initiatives/activities.

Review and analyze data to make informed decisions and initiate corrective actions.

Be a source of education and knowledge in all things regarding continuous improvement to leadership and others in the organization.

Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping.

Perform any other duties as required or assigned.

Attends internal and external training as assigned by Director or VP.

May be asked to participate in activities and events that promote and/or generate revenue for the agency.

Acts as a positive role model for employees in all aspects of professional performance.

Regular attendance is required as outlined in Goodwill’s attendance policy.


Skills, knowledge and abilities: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job).

Must be able to interact cordially and productively with a variety of people.

 Must be able to market Goodwill and explain the mission to the general public.  

Must have good computer skills (Word, Excel and Outlook required) and the ability to use electronic reporting and/or data management systems.

Must have the ability to use basic office equipment.

Must be able to take initiative and work well with little supervision.

Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.

Must be able to keep information confidential.

Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English.

Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among employees while motivating them to their best performance.

Ability to function in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.

Must have a valid drivers’ license for at least 3 years, access to a personal vehicle with liability automobile insurance and be insurable through the

agency’s insurance carrier in order to drive an agency vehicle. 

Must be at least 21 years of age.


Experience and Education Requirements:

2 years’ experience in business/retail/manufacturing/production/logistics setting where worked performed was at a decision making level.

Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Total Quality Management or other continuous improvement

frameworks preferred.

High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s Degree in business or Bachelor’s degree preferred. 

Proficiency in leadership, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in data analysis, root cause analysis and problem solving skills.

Experience training individuals with disabilities and low socio-economic team members.

 

Physical Requirements:

Able to bend, reach and stand for extensive periods of time and lift up to forty pounds.  May be required to lift heavier goods/items with the assistance of another team member.

Able to perform tasks that require repetitive motion; i.e., tagging or hanging clothes.  Manual dexterity is required.

 

Working Conditions:

Frequent physical exertion; exposure to unfit donated goods; regular travel throughout the Gulf Coast area.
